Turks and Caicos is one of the lesser known Caribbean destination, but that also means that you should find fewer crowds and a bit more privacy here. Turks and Caicos is a series of fairly small islands and politically they are a British Overseas Territory. On all the islands combined there are only around 36,000 residents.
The best tourist features that Turks and Caicos has to offer is their water sports. There is some great snorkeling right off the beach in many areas. We walked off the beach and saw sting rays, sea turtles, barracuda, and lots of colorful tropical fish.
There is also some good deep sea fishing to be done in the waters around Turks and Caicos. You may have to reel your catch in fast though, as there are sharks in the water. On our trip one person was reeling in a bit too slowly and his catch ended up half eaten by the time it got to the boat.
Overall, Turks and Caicos is a nice place and I enjoyed my trip there, but I wouldn't put it as a must see destination.
